Get to know me

Maya Kattan is a Marriage and Family Therapy intern at Northwest Relationships, practicing under the supervision of Robin Beckley, LMFT. She works with adolescents, teens, individuals, and families, with particular focus on identity development, intergenerational and cultural challenges, anxiety, depression, religious and spiritual conflict, sexuality and gender exploration, identity integration, chronic illness, and family transitions. Maya is especially passionate about supporting second-generation individuals, people of color, and LGBTQ+ communities.

Maya brings warmth, openness, and deep respect for the unique lived experience each client carries into the room. She approaches therapy with a systemic and client-centered lens, and is currently exploring modalities such as Emotion-Focused Therapy and the Satir Model as part of her developing therapeutic identity. She believes in creating a space where clients can safely explore the complex intersections of race, religion, gender, and sexuality, and works collaboratively to set goals, build insight, and foster change at a pace that feels sustainable.

Maya is currently completing her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Pacific Lutheran University and holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Washington Tacoma, along with an Associate's degree in Pre-Nursing from Green River Community College. She is a member of AAMFT. As a queer, chronically ill, second-generation Palestinian woman, Maya understands the power of holding multiple truths and identities at once, and brings that lens into her work with clients processing internal conflicts, cultural expectations, and systemic influences. Outside of session, Maya enjoys spending time with loved ones, attending concerts, and reading. She's an avid plant parent, despite her ongoing mystery struggle with succulents, and finds joy in caring for her indoor jungle.

You're allowed to hold more than one truth at once.
