Get to know me

Mia Henderson is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor intern at Northwest Relationships, practicing under the supervision of Brittany Thomas, LMFT. They work with individuals (ages 12+), couples, and polycules around depression, anxiety, complex trauma, panic, life transitions, self-discovery, relationship conflict, non-monogamy, identity development, and the emotional impact of systemic oppression and climate grief. Their work is grounded in anti-oppressive, culturally sensitive, and ecospiritual values.

Mia integrates Relational-Cultural Theory, Narrative Therapy, Existential Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Gestalt Therapy, and DBT, with a counseling style that is gentle, collaborative, and radically nonjudgmental. They tailor the work to each client's unique values, cultural background, strengths, and identities, and actively invite feedback to keep the space safe, flexible, and empowering. Mia is especially passionate about supporting queer and gender-diverse clients, people in nontraditional relationships, and those seeking meaning, purpose, and healing from complex trauma.

Mia is currently pursuing their Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Seattle University, expected 2026, and holds a B.A. in Geography and Environmental Studies from Western Washington University. Before entering the mental health field, they worked with AmeriCorps and the Washington Conservation Corps and served as a Crisis Counselor with Crisis Text Line. Mia is queer, nonbinary, of mixed European and Japanese ancestry, and identifies as a devoted Animist and folk herbalist, perspectives that inform their holistic view of healing. Outside of session, you'll find them camping, foraging, crafting, dancing, skiing, playing folk music, or wandering the natural world with curiosity and reverence.

Healing isn't linear. It's growing, unraveling, and re-rooting.
