Get to know me

Tuka Almusawi is a Couple and Family Therapy intern at Northwest Relationships, practicing under the supervision of Brittany Thomas, LMFT. She works with individuals, couples, families, and children around anxiety, parenting struggles, relationship conflict, immigration and resettlement stress, and intergenerational family dynamics. She has a special interest in supporting first-generation immigrants and people navigating bicultural or multicultural identities.

Tuka's approach is collaborative and client-centered, drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She works holistically, attending to a person's individual experience, their family dynamics, and the cultural systems shaping their life. She brings warmth and curiosity to making sure clients from all backgrounds feel welcomed and heard, and she pays particular attention to the role culture, language, and identity play in how people understand themselves.

Tuka is currently completing her Master's in Couple and Family Therapy at Pacific Lutheran University and holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Washington. She is an Arab American woman and a proud member of an immigrant family, and her personal journey informs the empathy and respect she brings to clients navigating identity, transition, and belonging. Outside of session, she spends time with her kids and loved ones, gets outside, hosts gatherings, travels, and volunteers as a Sunday school teacher at her local mosque.

Meaningful change begins with trust, curiosity, and a strong therapeutic relationship.
