ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Engaging creativity for mental health

Art Therapy is a mental health modality practiced in a clinical setting by a licensed art therapist who integrates creativity into the therapeutic process. Unlike talk-therapy alone, art therapy can access the sensory and emotional layers of experience that words alone cannot always reach.

Therapeutic art-making can build self-esteem, support emotional regulation and coping, surface implicit resilience and strengths, explore symbolism and meaning, and improve cognitive flexibility. It works with families and intimate relationships too, where it provides insight into other perspectives, opens difficult conversations, reduces conflict, and builds collaboration.

You do not need to be good at art to do art therapy. All experience levels are welcome. The work is not about producing something beautiful or being analyzed through your drawings. It is an invitation to play, experiment, and access what verbal expression can miss. Any art-making in session is always an invitation, never a requirement. Materials are provided in person, and for telehealth your therapist will work with what you already have at home.

Most insurance plans cover art therapy the same way they cover other forms of therapy at our practice. For specific insurance questions, our in-house billing specialist can help.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Who art therapy is for

You don't need to fit all of these. Most of our clients arrive with one or two and discover the rest along the way.

You feel stuck in talk-only therapy and sense that something deeper needs a different mode of access.

You're a parent, child, or family wanting a way to communicate through difficult terrain that words alone keep missing.

You're carrying experiences that feel pre-verbal or hard to articulate, and you suspect creative work might help you reach them.

You are simply curious about a different way of doing therapy, and you want to try working with a licensed clinician trained in this modality.
