Liesl Nayeli is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Art Therapist at Northwest Relationships. She works with adult individuals, couples, polycules, and families on relational dynamics, emotion regulation, anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, the impacts of systemic oppression, body image, grief and loss, life transitions, sex and intimacy. Liesl has a special interest in supporting Autistic and ADHD adults (especially late‑realized) and others under the neurodivergent umbrella, with a particular interest in how neurodiversity can shape communication in relationships.
Liesl's approach weaves together art therapy, attachment theory, somatic awareness, solution-focused therapy, and insights from neuroscience. Her practice is client-centered and she strives to be trauma-sensitive, gender-affirming, body-inclusive, sex-positive, and anti-oppressive. "I believe the depth and quality of our therapeutic work rests on the strength of our relationship. As a therapist, I endeavor to be accountable and transparent." At the core of her work is the belief that bodies hold the imprint of what we've lived, and that with compassion, embodiment, and intentional space, real healing can happen. She views art and creative modalities as powerful tools for expression and processing- no artistic skills are required.
Liesl earned her M.A. in Couple and Family Therapy with an Art Therapy Specialization from Antioch University Seattle, and her B.A. in Psychology and Communication from the University of Hawaii, Hilo. She is a member of AAMFT, WAMFT, and AASECT. Liesl identifies as a neurodivergent, spoonie, White, cis woman who has lived in many places; she humbly brings these lived experiences into therapy while centering curiosity about her client's experiences. Outside of sessions, Liesl reconnects with nature on forest walks with her dog, finds peace at home with loved ones, pursues creative activities, binges a good comfort show, and tends to her plants. Fun fact: she has a particular gift for finding other people's lost things
Our bodies hold the impressions of what we've lived through.
