Get to know me
Liesl Nayeli is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Art Therapist at Northwest Relationships. She works with adult individuals, couples and polycules, and families around relationship dynamics, ADHD and neurodiversity, emotion regulation, anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, the impacts of systemic oppression, body image, grief and loss, and life transitions. Liesl has a particular interest in how neurodivergence shapes communication in relationships.
Liesl's approach weaves together art therapy, attachment theory, somatic awareness, solution-focused therapy, and insights from neuroscience. Her practice is client-centered, trauma-sensitive, gender-affirming, sex-positive, body-positive, and anti-oppressive. At the core of her work is the belief that bodies hold the impressions of what we've lived, and that with compassion, embodiment, and a safe space, real healing can happen. She views art and creative modalities as powerful tools for expression and processing, and no artistic skills are required.
Liesl earned her M.A. in Couple and Family Therapy with an Art Therapy Specialization from Antioch University Seattle, and her B.A. in Psychology and Communication from the University of Hawaii, Hilo. She is a member of AAMFT. Liesl identifies as a neurodivergent spoonie cis-woman who has lived in many places, and brings her lived experience into her therapeutic relationships while staying humble and curious about the experiences of others. Outside of session, Liesl reconnects with nature on forest walks with her dog, finds peace at home with loved ones, a warm beverage, and her doodles, and is surrounded by her plants. Fun fact: she has a particular gift for finding other people's lost things.
Our bodies hold the impressions of what we've lived through.
