Get to know me
I came to therapy work believing that patience is not passive. I'm a Marriage and Family Therapy intern in Tacoma working with individuals, couples, and families, and I see my role as a guide in your process, not the director of it. Your goal is my goal. We move at your pace, because growth can't be rushed and it doesn't have to be.
I draw on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, the Gottman Method, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, and I'm building a foundation in Narrative Therapy. I'm not tied to a single model, and I won't force one onto a situation where it doesn't fit. What I care about is helping you grow into the version of yourself you already have the potential to become, especially in your closest relationships.
I'm a Black woman from Atlanta, and I came to this field to help my community. I want people of color, and low-income individuals and couples in particular, to have a place where seeking therapy feels comfortable and being vulnerable feels safe. Access to care is hard. Finding the time is harder. I know that firsthand, and it's a commitment I bring to this work.
I'm completing my graduate training in the Couples and Family Therapy program at Seattle University, and I'm supervised by Brittany Thomas, LMFT, an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, who reviews my clinical work as part of standard practice at Northwest Relationships. Before graduate school I worked as an assistant Montessori teacher and led after-school programs at Yesler Community Center in Seattle, so I'm comfortable meeting people at their pace, whatever their age.
Outside the therapy room you'll find me at concerts and community festivals, on a road trip with people I love, or learning to crochet. I keep a quote I wrote myself taped to my mirror: the more roadblocks life throws at you, the closer you are to the finish line. I'd be glad to run the next stretch with you.
The more road blocks life throws at you, the closer you are to the finish line. Let the race continue.
