Get to know me
For seven years I was a volunteer clinic escort at Planned Parenthood in Tacoma, walking beside people on days when the world felt loudest. That experience led me to counseling. It taught me what it means to offer someone steady, nonjudgmental presence, and it's the posture I bring to every session: why be judgmental when you can be curious?
I'm a mental health counselor working with individuals ages 12 and up. You do the work of therapy. My job is to hold the space where that work is safe, to bring tools and maps when the terrain gets hard, and to treat you with unconditional positive regard while you find your way. I draw on Gestalt, narrative therapy, CBT, DBT, and ACT, adapting as you grow and as old tools stop fitting.
I'm especially drawn to teens and young adults figuring out who they are while life keeps happening: grief and loss, anxiety, friendship and relationship shifts, religious trauma, second-generation cultural pressures, men's issues, and life transitions. I also welcome clients processing an abortion who want to talk it through with someone who has no judgment about the decision itself. That space is hard to find, and I hold it gladly.
I completed my Master of Arts in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Seattle University, with training in the Gottman Method, exposure and response prevention for OCD, and ACT, CBT, and DBT approaches. I'm supervised by Margaret MacLeod, LMFT, an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, who reviews my clinical work as part of standard practice at Northwest Relationships.
I'm a Midwesterner from a Coast Guard family, married ten years, and happily childfree, though I love working with parents. Outside sessions I crochet little creatures for the people I love, cook with my husband, hunt down new food around the Sound, and cozy up with the cats and British TV on rainy evenings. Until I was 18 I wanted to be a marine biologist. I still think curiosity about deep waters is the whole job.
