Get to know me
Margaret MacLeod is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AAMFT Approved Supervisor at Northwest Relationships. She offers telehealth therapy and clinical supervision, with focus areas in couples experiencing disconnection, parent-child sexuality education, ambiguous and disenfranchised grief, family of origin work, and sex therapy. She works with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences, and is queer and polyamory affirming.
Margaret's approach combines Bowen Natural Family Systems, Satir's Human Validation Process Model, and the Narrative Family Therapy of White and Epston. She tailors the work to the individual, paying attention to the interplay between a person's internal world, their family and social systems, and the cultural and environmental context they live in. A cornerstone of her work is the belief that her clients already carry the functional pieces they need, and that her role is to help find them and bring them where things have gotten stuck.
Margaret earned her M.S. in Family Therapy from Texas Woman's University and her B.A. in French from Belmont University. She's a Clinical Fellow of AAMFT and a clinical member of WAMFT, IFTA, and AASECT. She has presented on the Person of the Therapist as a Training Model at the IFTA Congress in Spain, Japan, and Scotland, and her work has been featured in publications including Thrive magazine. She identifies as a white millennial woman, a mother, and a queer and polyamory affirming clinician. Outside of session, she gardens, travels, cooks, rides horses, and tap dances. She's also conversational in Dutch and French.
Every relationship has functional pieces in it already. The work is finding them, and bringing them where they're needed.
