Couples therapy typically focuses on connection and communication between the partners. In therapy, we will work to help each person understand his or her role in the relationship interactions and to identify more constructive ways of communicating and engaging in the relationship, increasing emotional intimacy and reconstructing old patterns of behavior.
At Northwest Relationships, we help individuals of all ages- both children and adults- to be authentically connected to self and others in order to work through current concerns that are affecting them. Individual therapy is tailored for each client and is conducted in a one-to-one setting.
The focus of family therapy is on healing relationships between loved ones with the goal of learning positive ways to cope with stress, practicing healthy problem solving skills, and improving communication so that conflicts can be identified and effectively resolved.
When working with parents and children, we take a systemic approach, meaning that we consider all parts of a story when helping our clients toward healing. We focus on doing work in session that will help all family members develop the skills they need to be able to be happier at home. We also help clients with concerns related to co-parenting and blended family situations.
