Get to Know Katie
Katie Harley (she/her) is a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern and Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) with a passion for helping individuals and relationships heal, grow, and reconnect. With a strong background in trauma-informed care and creative healing practices, Katie works with individuals, couples, and adult families who are ready to explore the deeper layers of their emotional experiences, relationships, and personal identities.

Katie specializes in supporting clients navigating complex trauma, relationship challenges, and shifts in identity, including sexual and romantic orientation. Her approach is client-centered, collaborative, anti-oppressive, and holistic—rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic therapy, DBT, and polyvagal-informed care. She brings warmth, curiosity, and a deep respect for each client’s unique lived experience, meeting people where they are and walking alongside them toward meaningful change.

Katie believes therapy can be both beautiful and challenging. Growth often requires us to confront difficult truths with compassion and a willingness to engage all parts of ourselves. Whether you're processing past pain, exploring identity, or wanting to reconnect with yourself or others, Katie offers a grounded and creative space for healing. She often incorporates expressive modalities like poetry, painting, and textile art as ways to deepen insight and emotional expression.

Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Therapeutic Recreation from Eastern Washington University and is completing her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Antioch University. She is trained in Gottman Method (Levels 1 & 2) and has completed specialized training in trauma and the Internal Family Systems model with Richard Schwartz and Tamala Floyd.
Before training as a therapist, Katie worked in both child and adult inpatient psychiatric settings, gaining extensive experience supporting individuals in acute crisis. These roles shaped her belief in each person’s innate resilience and capacity for growth—even in the face of deep pain.

Katie identifies as a bisexual woman, was raised Catholic, and now holds a spiritually agnostic worldview. She brings these layered perspectives into her work with clients through a lens of openness and acceptance.

Outside of the therapy room, Katie is an anime enthusiast, artist, and nature lover. She enjoys reading, creative projects, and spending time outdoors with her husband and their two beloved rescue pitties.
