Get to Know Tuka
Tuka Almusawi is a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern at Northwest Relationships, currently completing her graduate degree in Couple and Family Therapy at Pacific Lutheran University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Washington and brings a strong foundation in both evidence-based therapy practices and culturally attuned care.

Tuka works with individuals, couples, families, and children to address a range of life challenges, including anxiety, parenting struggles, relationship conflict, immigration and resettlement stress, and intergenerational tension. She has a special interest in supporting first-generation immigrants and those navigating bicultural or multicultural identities. With warmth and understanding, Tuka creates a space where clients from all backgrounds feel welcomed, heard, and empowered.

Her approach to therapy is collaborative and client-centered, grounded in modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. She works holistically—attending to individual experiences, family dynamics, and the cultural systems that shape her clients’ lives. Tuka believes that meaningful change begins with trust, curiosity, and a strong therapeutic relationship.

As an Arab American woman and a proud member of an immigrant family, Tuka brings lived experience and deep empathy to her work. Her personal journey inspires her to help others embrace their identities, overcome hardships, and build stronger relationships with themselves and others.

Outside of the therapy room, Tuka enjoys spending time with her kids and loved ones, being outdoors, hosting gatherings, and traveling. She is an active member of her community, volunteering at her local mosque as a Sunday school teacher and engaging with families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
