Get to Know Flannery

Flannery Blair (she/they) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate who brings a deeply compassionate, somatic, and identity-affirming approach to therapy. Flannery works with individuals, adolescents, partners and polycules, and families—particularly families with autistic and/or gender non-conforming children. They support clients navigating complex trauma, neurodivergence, bipolar disorder, identity exploration, and relationship dynamics within queer, kink, and non-traditional relationship communities.

Flannery’s work is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work and attachment theory, with additional integration of Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and trauma-informed somatic practices. As a registered yoga teacher (RYT-500) and Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator (TCTSY-F), Flannery brings body-based awareness into the therapeutic process in gentle, consent-centered ways.

Flannery believes that healing begins with understanding and acceptance of what is. They approach each client’s story with curiosity and respect, creating a grounded, nonjudgmental space where all parts of a person are welcome—even the parts shaped by pain or survival. Their therapeutic style emphasizes connection: between therapist and client, within relationships, and internally between parts of the self. Flannery holds the belief that clients already carry the capacity for healing and that therapy provides the safety and connection needed to access it.

While Flannery’s clinical language is often rooted in parts work, they recognize that not all clients resonate with that framework. They adapt their approach thoughtfully, drawing from an extensive toolkit of relational, narrative, and somatic interventions. Collaboration, consent, and ongoing feedback are central to how Flannery practices, ensuring therapy feels responsive and empowering.

Flannery holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University and a Bachelor’s degree in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. They have completed over 50 hours of advanced IFS training, including trauma treatment with Dr. Frank Anderson, and are trained in EFIT Levels 1 & 2 and Gottman Method Levels 1 & 2. Additional certifications include Polyvagal Theory training, a 500-hour yoga certification, and a 300-hour trauma-sensitive yoga certification. Certifications as a Certified Autism Specialist and EFCT Levels 1 & 2 are currently in progress.

Flannery identifies as white, queer, polyamorous, autistic, disabled, spiritual-but-not-religious, and as a parent to two gender non-conforming children. These lived experiences inform their deeply affirming and non-pathologizing approach to care.

Outside of the therapy room, Flannery enjoys video games, yoga, long walks with their dogs, spending time near trees and water, watching movies with their kids, and comfort TV with their partner. They are an avid learner who is almost always immersed in a new training or book—and, fun fact, they also collect tarantulas (though they promise not to bring that into session unless invited).
