Get to Know Ashley

Ashley Raburn (she/her) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA) who offers a thoughtful, compassionate, and collaborative approach to therapy. Ashley works with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents, supporting clients who are navigating substance use concerns, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and patterns shaped by trauma, culture, and lived experience.

Ashley’s work is grounded in Narrative Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). She approaches therapy with the belief that people are not the problem—the problem is the problem. Rather than pathologizing clients, Ashley focuses on understanding how challenges have taken shape within relationships, roles, and systems, and how those challenges may have influenced a person’s sense of self and identity.

She believes therapy is a collaborative process built on curiosity, respect, and deep compassion. From a narrative perspective, she helps clients step back from limiting or painful stories—often shaped by survival, relationships, or past experiences—and reconnect with stories that reflect their values, strengths, and preferred ways of living. She also believes that meaningful change happens not only through insight, but through felt emotional experience. Therapy becomes a space to slow down, tune into emotions and body sensations, and practice new ways of relating to oneself and others in real time.

Ashley tailors her approach by honoring each client as the expert of their own life. She pays close attention to cultural, relational, and systemic contexts, and adjusts the pace and depth of therapy based on what feels supportive and manageable for each client. Responsiveness, consent, and ongoing feedback are central to her work.

Ashley earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Washington. She identifies as a cisgender, spiritual person and brings an open, reflective presence into the therapy room.

She is especially drawn to working with clients who are curious about how their relationships and life experiences have shaped the patterns they feel stuck in. She loves helping clients move from blame and reactivity toward understanding, connection, and healthier communication. She finds deep meaning in supporting people as they build stronger boundaries, more secure relationships, and a greater sense of self-compassion.

Outside of therapy, Ashley enjoys reading, hot yoga, long walks, and anything true-crime related. A fun fact—she once swam with whale sharks in Mexico, an experience she describes as both grounding and awe-inspiring.
