Get to Know Maren

Maren Wagner (she/her) is a graduate student in Couple and Family Therapy and a sex therapy trainee at Northwest Relationships. She brings a warm, relational, and deeply affirming presence to her work with individuals, couples, and families, supporting clients as they navigate connection, identity, and life transitions.

Maren is especially passionate about helping clients explore relationship dynamics, attachment patterns, communication challenges, and experiences of disconnection. She also has a strong interest in sex therapy and supports clients in navigating intimacy, desire differences, sexual identity, and reducing shame through a sex-positive and inclusive lens. Maren welcomes clients from diverse backgrounds and relationship structures, including consensual non-monogamy and polyamory.

Her approach is collaborative, systemic, and client-centered. Maren draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy, while incorporating elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS). She works from a strengths-based and holistic perspective, helping clients better understand how their relationships, environments, and lived experiences shape their current patterns. Maren strives to create a space that feels safe, curious, and nonjudgmental—where clients can explore their stories, deepen insight, and build meaningful change.

Maren believes that transformation happens through connection. When people feel seen, heard, and understood, they are better able to approach themselves and their relationships with compassion and curiosity. She works collaboratively with clients to tailor therapy to their goals, pace, and unique identities, gently offering reflection and challenge to support growth and new possibilities.

Maren is currently completing her Master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy at Antioch University and is pursuing a sex therapy certification aligned with AASECT standards. She also brings a diverse professional background, including over 15 years as an esthetician and educator, where she cultivated spaces centered on comfort, embodiment, and self-acceptance.

Maren identifies as a queer, ambiamorous single parent and a third-culture individual, having grown up in a military family living across different countries. She also identifies as someone with ADHD, which informs her appreciation for diverse ways of thinking and experiencing the world. Her lived experiences shape her commitment to creating inclusive, affirming, and relationally attuned spaces for all clients.

Outside of the therapy room, Maren enjoys spending time in nature—especially hiking, backpacking (or “wildering”), and paddleboarding—as well as creative expression through art and dance. She values community connection, travel, and sharing meaningful time with her teenager, friends, and chosen family.
